The first one is a cool angle and Gymnastics is want she is the most passionate about.
The second picture is of my dad and his work gloves and some tools. This picture tells more about him than his face ever could because he loves his job and his hands show it.
I really love the filter you used in the first picture, it's also a great angle of her doing gymnastics. I like the second photo too, it says so much about him.

These are both really really well done. The changes you made to the first one work really well with your image, the filter really adds to the image and doesn't take away anything. I also love the composition in the second one, its such a good photo even with such limited if there was any photoshopping.
